Max the Math Monster was mighty hungry today!

Today I introduced my littles to my good friend, Max.  I started by telling them Max's story.  It's a sad tale....his parents are feeling mighty helpless and like parental failures because poor little Max just won't eat...not people food, or monster food, or zoo food.  Nothing...nada....zilch.  Max will probably starve to death if they don't figure out what's up.  My littles were all into this story.  I even gave them their own version of the story as a booklet to illustrate. 

Lo and behold, the doctor diagnosed Max with a rare condition...he would only eat numbers...the bigger the better!!

Then, the kids got to make their own Math Monster.

(Yes, I only have 10 babies...private school.  But don't judge or hate...I promise it feels like 30 some days. ;)  )

After that, we practiced letting Max munch the bigger number.  They each got a chance to make him eat his lunch!

 And then we let sweet little Max take a nap while we worked on drawing the greater than/less than symbol between the numbers.  They caught on quite quickly!  I love making math concepts concrete and memorable.  It seems to help things "stick" for my littles!
