I MOUSTACHE you a Question!

First off, CONGRATS to Melanie Morgan for winning the amazing Aussie Pouch Chair Covers.  Thank you to all who participated in the giveaway and to all of my new followers!

Now, onto my title...I MOUSTACHE you a question!

I had a question of the day on my classroom door last year and those kiddos LOVED it!!  If I forgot to change the question in the morning, they would worry me to death remind me to change it as soon as they arrived!

I wanted to create a bulletin board devoted to the QOD as well as come up with some different questions than the ones I used last year. I'm all into the Moustache/Mustache theme..love it.  So, this packet centers around that.

First off, I found some mustache duck tape that I HAD to use for the border.  I went with black fabric on my boards this year which I am loving already!   Then I found some cute green, black, and white magnet boards at Hobby Lobby which were on clearance for 8 bucks each!  I had hubby hang these on the bulletin board.  I'm not quite done, because I'm going to laminate my QOD cards for durability and my students' name cards for durability, but here's a little peak at the board:
The packet includes the yes/no labels for whatever board you use (cookie sheets work great, too!), the pennant banner the title page, and 180 questions of the day.  I even found cute mustache ribbon to tie on the sign:
I haven't decided what my students' magnets will look like.  I may put mustache stickers on my kiddos, take black and white photos of them, laminate the pics, and add a magnet to the back.  Or, I may just use these instead:
I found these adorable name plates at Hobby Lobby (along with the mustache ribbon).  If I use these, I'll laminate for durability then write students' names on the front and attach a magnet to the back.  Either way, this is sure to be a super cute display that students will look forward to checking first thing every morning.  I loved the reading progress I saw through this activity last year, too.  I had to read the questions to the kids at the beginning of the year, and I loved watching the transition to independent reading!

Here's what the QOD cards look like (there are 180 in all):

And best yet?  Very little color ink is required for this packet...only for the pennant banner and the title page which are optional!  I've also included a black and white title page:

The packet is available at TPT for $4.00.  Click the picture below to check it out:

  3. Oh my goodness, I love your "MOUSTACHE you a question" idea! I'm not good at catchy phrases, but that's totally cute! I'm going to pass this on to a colleague who is obsessed with mustaches.

  10. This is SUCH a wonderful idea! I must admit, I've noticed this craze of sorts surrounding mustaches lately, and just wasn't getting it... but THIS I totally get! I never thought I would hear myself say this, but mustaches may be appearing in my classroom this fall! Thanks so much!

  12. I do the whole graphing one the first week of school and the kids love it! I so need to do this! The graphing one I put up as a bulletin board display in the hallway and it is always a big hit but now I am thinking I have to do it all year inside with your packet. Thanks so much! :) Great idea!
