I shared a while back how I use my Henry and Mudge reading trifolds to challenge my top readers. Well, I've also started getting my top readers to read the Magic Tree House books, and I've created some Common Core Book studies to go with the first 8 books. I'm working my way through the whole series and am bundling them in groups of 7. My firsties are loving these packets! They are really challenging them to think creatively and expand their thinking. Each unit includes two comprehension foldables, reader response journal prompts, a comprehension check, creative writing prompts, and a vocabulary foldable. I've also included several extension activities in each set to give students practice with a variety of reading and language skills including ABC order, fact/opinion, true/false, Suffix -ed rules, and more! Check out the previews for each below. Click on a preview to take you to the product on TPT:

I love the Magic Tree House series because both boys and girls LOVE them. Confession time: my favorite series growing up was The Babysitter's Club. Pretty sure I read every. single. one. I just ate those up. Ha!

These look awesome. I have second graders who are reading chapter books on their own now and others who want to read them. Reading Magic Treehouse books to them would be a great way to end the school year.
ReplyDeleteMy students love Magic Treehouse too! This would be great to keep them accountable for reading. As a child though I loved the Little House series.
ReplyDeleteWe are reading The Magic Tree House books right now because they are my favorite chapter book series.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is currently devouring the irreverent (but hilarious) Horrid Henry series; she reads them over and over. She just discovered Magic Treehouse at the library and read the Paris adventure with Louis Pasteur, Thomas Edison and co. Brilliant! This set would be a great way to encourage and expand her interest. Thanks so much for the opportunity! thursdaytook@hotmail.com
