Kids Say the Darndest Things! (as cliche as that sounds)

I’ve been sitting here shaking my head and thinking about some of the funny things my 4 1/2 year old, Morgan, and my 2nd grade students have said lately.  Just a few funnies to share with y’all to bring a smile to your face

Yesterday I was discussing habitats with Morgan on the way to school.  I explained what a habitat was (she ADORES Diego, so she’s all about animals!).  I proceeded to question her:
Me:  What’s a polar bear’s habitat?
Morgan:  the arctic
Me:  What’s a monkey’s habitat?
Morgan:  The jungle
Me:  What’s a bear’s habitat?
Morgan:  the forest
Me:  What’s a fish’s habitat?
Morgan:  the bowl (spoken in all sincerity.  LOLsmart girl, huh?)

And then tonight, I cooked meatloaf, English Peas, and roasted potatoes.  Morgan took a huge bite of fresh-from-the-can English peas and said, “Mommy, how did you learn to bake so good?”  It melted my heart.  Bless her heart, I hope she doesn’t inherit Mommy’s cooking “skillz.”

Yesterday, after I assigned our Leprechaun Trap family homework, the kids were searching for leprechauns at recess.  My sweet, brainy little Owen said, “Mrs. Ashley, we’re part of the LSSthe Leprechaun Searching Society.”  He was completely serious, too! J  And, then sweet Jackson checked out a Magic Tree House research guide on leprechauns so he could begin his research.

It was so funny to me that yesterday morning they were all “There’s no such thing as leprechauns” and telling each other why that was the case.  Then, as soon as they learned about the project, they were worried about looking on the internet to see what leprechauns eat so they could trap them more effectivelyand asking me how big they were (I told them about 3 inches??!!)and telling me they were going to leave the leps a note that they wouldn’t hurt them if they caught them, they just want to study them for scientific purposes and then let them go.  My kiddos are such cutie-patooties!  There isn’t a day that goes by that they don’t make me laugh or smile!

Don't forget that you can snag my Leprechaun Trap mini-unit for only $1 at TPT!

How have your kiddos (school or home kiddos) made you laugh lately? J
