Fluency for my Struggling Readers

I shared with you last week what my top readers are doing right now to improve their fluency.  Now I want to show you what my struggling readers are doing.

One of my struggling students' biggest weaknesses is sight word recognition.  They are fairly good at phonetic decoding, but they are still struggling with sight words.  I'm creating fluency folders for them with activities from my Sight Words to the Rescue Packets.  There's a Preprimer pack, a Primer Pack, and a First Grade Pack.  I'll be working on a Second and Third grade sight word pack soon.

Each of these students gets a folder with the activities they need to complete written out.  As they complete an activity in this order, they check it off:
Each week the students focus on 10-12 sight words.  Each week has predictable activities they complete to reinforce and learn those sight words.  There are preassessments and post-assessments for the students to complete.  The activities students complete include:

The kids are so diligent and engaged during this time.  They absolutely love these packets and don't want to stop when it's time to move on!!

The students are also working diligently on my Spin a Word Family Activities!
