Snowmen in Georgia

My kiddos were disappointed with the snow we ended up NOT getting during Snowpocalypse 2014.  So, we decided to build snowmen in class....common core style!

We made the craft from my Snowy Fact Families unit.  I started the unit explaining what a Fact Family is:
I made a large anchor chart, too, and named the snowmen after me, my hubby, and my daughter.  We practiced with numbers on the snowmen and made fact family number sentences on dry erase boards:
We reviewed how the addition sentences equal the biggest number and the subtraction sentences start with the biggest number:

Then, we set to work building our fact family snowmen.  All of the templates you need for this are in the Snowy Fact Families packet (as well as the anchor charts above).

We rounded out the week playing some fact family games, like this FREEBIE:

and this game that you can find in the Snowy Fact Families packet:

And THAT, my friends, is how you build a snowman in Georgia!! *wink*
