Friday my class and I had a blast having a Fancy Party, inspired by Becca Foxwell's Fancy Y Packet! This packet celebrates Y as long e. Talk about Phonics fun come to life!!
I sent invitations home with the kids, complete with suggestions for what to wear. They had to dress "fancy!" Becca's packet comes with color and black/white invitations!
I got the parents to bring in fancy Hors d'oeuvres including veggies and dip, pretzels, and some adorable mini cupcakes! These kids really dressed to impress.
We played some fun games included in Becca's Packet. We sorted Fancy Y words and Sky Words. And we wrote Tasty Pastry Words on a plate!
And we even played a little pin the fancy mustache on the man (instead of pin the tail on the donkey!) I simply printed out a clip art man and used a Dollar Tree stick on mustache. The kids were blindfolded and if they got the mustache in the right spot, they won a prize. They LOVED this!
At the end of the day, we made Fancy Crowns. I found the crowns and embellishments at none other than The Dollar Tree!
And can y'all believe you can get "silver platters" at the Dollar Tree. For Real. We were straight up Fancy!!!
We also read a TON of fabulous Fancy Nancy books all.day.long.
This day was a magical day and I heard over and over again, "This was the best day ever!!" If you love having a Q and U wedding, you've got to try a Fancy Party! Becca has generously agreed to give away TWO copies of her Fancy Y packet to two lucky followers! Enter using the rafflecopter below!
AH! Your kids look SO adorable! I've always wished I could post pics of my kids from Fancy Y day on my blog, but we can't due to school policies, so this totally made my day!! LOVE LOVE LOVE your Fancy Y Party! So glad your kids had "the best day ever!" YAY! This post made my heart smile! :)
