Take Me Back Tuesday: The 12 Days of Christmas {Literature}

 I'm linking up with the fabulous Hope King this week for Take Me Back Tuesday.  It's a throwback to a Christmas post from last year.

This post is from November 2012:
I am really stoked about a new Christmas unit I just loaded on TPT the other day.  It’s called “The 12 Days of Christmas {Literature}!”  It actually covers 15 popular Christmas books so you can pick and choose which ones to use.  The premise of the packet is this:  I have included 2-3 activities for each book—generally a craftivity (with patterns/templates included) and a literacy activity—a graphic organizer, a noun/verb sort, etc.  I suggest you go ahead and run off all necessary copies, gather colored paper and other supplies, etc.  Then, gift wrap the book plus all of the necessary materials together.  I actually wrapped all 15 books and activity sets myself.  There are 15 school days before Christmas break, so we will open one book each day.  I will let the leader choose which book to open.  Then, we will complete the activities after reading the book.  Or, you can simply use it for the 12 Days leading up to Christmas break instead of 15 days.  There is a ton of flexibility with how you use this!  You can even giftwrap one book a day so you can manage your lesson plans better and you know exactly which book and activities to expect!  You can download the preview at TPT to see exactly which books are included and which activities are included!

I think the kids will be THRILLED about this fun unit!  I plan to have my classroom tree decorated and all the books under it before they come to school on Monday, December 1st.  Here are some pictures of how I have prepped the materials:
