Daily Read and Writes

I wanted to develop some fluency passages to give my first graders a bit of a challenge and practice with fluency and comprehension.  At the same time, I knew that we needed to practice our writing.  So I developed Daily Read and Writes.  The front side of each page will contain a seasonally themed fluency passage, a few questions, and some sight words and challenge words.  Then on the back side, students will find a corresponding writing prompt.  These are great for morning work, homework, or small group reading.  I've included a larger version of each poem/story for you to project on an interactive white board or have at a reading table.  Here are a few samples of the stories (both fiction and nonfiction) and poems:
