I'm in the Club! Are you???

Tie my shoes?  Check.

Know my birthday?  Check.

Know my address?  Check.

Know my phone number?  Check.

Can read a book independently?  Check.

Can blow a bubble?  Check. 

Yep, I'm in the club. ;)

Now to get my students to join the club.  Hence, this new packet:

Each month for the next 6 months, we will focus on a new monthly challenge.  Meet the challenge by the last day of the month and you're in the club!  I've started setting up a display in the classroom, and we'll begin our first challenge (Know your birthday) in September.  I know my kiddos will be all over this.

Speaking of my sweeties, I was stoked today when I took their August writing sample for their monthly writing portfolios.  I took a picture of them beside their first day writing samples.  WOW...so proud of their progress!  Isn't first grade just the most rewarding grade EVER??

Each month at the end of the month, they will complete one portfolio page.  Then, I will bind them with a comb binder and present them to the parents.  You can pick up my Monthly Writing Portfolio packet here:
