Ten Pin LInky Party: Reading Ideas

Thanks so much for all of you who are linking up...this has been so much fun!  I apologize that thumbnails are not showing up.  I contacted the linky company for support with this but they have not responded.  I will try to link up with a different one next week but didn't have time this week.  Anywho, this week we are sharing our 10 favorite reading pins!  I have a master's degree in reading, and it's truly my passion.  Here are some of my favorite Pinterest sources of inspiration for reading instruction:

1.  I love this READO packet from Two Can Do It.  I've already purchased the whole set on TPT {HERE}.  I plan to offer a reading incentive for students who complete a certain number of squares each month. Remember to click on each picture to visit my Pin.
Check out our updated Read-O made for the entire school year. It's scaffolded around the ELA Common Core.

2.  Love, love, love {Did I say love???} the thought of having a school reading fair.  I'm definitely sharing this idea with our librarian.

3.  How simple, yet fabulous, is this idea for organizing word wall cards?  Genius!  My goal this year is to be more organized and to quit creating double work for myself! ;)

4.  I love the idea of having the kids design book review t-shirts and pitching their book to the class, too.  Super cute!

 5.  My bloggy buddy, Christina Bainbridge, is amazing!  I've been using her goodies since I discovered her class website years ago before I'd ever even heard of TPT!  I love her reading flippy books.  Fabulous!

6.  I've slowly been writing an author study to use each month of the school year.  So, I wanted to create author study notebooks for my students to organize all of their author study materials.  We'll be doing author studies on Jonathan London, Robert Munsch, Kevin Henkes, Patricia Polacco, Peggy Parish, Audrey Wood, and Marc Brown.  I also plan to write author studies on Eric Carle, Jan Brett, Paulette Bourgeois, and a few others this year. You can check out all of my author studies {HERE}.  I came up with these notebooks:

7.   Not sure if y'all have discovered sweet Nancy at First Grade Wow, but EVERY SINGLE THING she creates she shares FOR FREE on her blog!  And she is quite a creative lady!!  This is her adorable Story retelling anchor chart.

8.I love Reagan's sight word stick centers.  How simple yet clever.  Does that woman's brain EVER stop churning?  Seriously, she is beyond creative!!

9.  I love The Teacher Wife's reading incentive necklaces.  I am seriously wanting to do this this year!  Her blog has a great explanation of how she uses the program, so be sure to click on the pin.

10.  Isn't Pinterest full of great anchor charts?  I love this decoding strategies chart.  I couldn't find the source, so if you can let me know who made it, that would be great!!

Whew...is it just me, or is it getting harder and harder to narrow these pins down each week?  I am linking up a day early to give everyone a chance to get your links up due to the holidays.

Again, I apologize that thumbnails aren't showing up and will try to spend some time remedying this next week. :)

Hope everyone has a great and safe Fourth.  God bless America!

  1. Wow you have some amazing finds here. I'm really digging the Read-O & I love the reading beads idea. I've already pinned both. I have a reading fair idea pinned on my board too, I love that idea. When I was in the 4th grade my teacher had us do the t-shirt thing. I still remember I did mine on Island of the Blue Dolphins. Thanks for sharing all of this wonderful pins & for hosting the fabulous linky.

  6. I like the reading beads idea as well! I was going to give my kiddos a challenge this year and that would be a very easy way to keep track of how many they have read.

  20. Thanks for you postings, ideas, awesome stuff here! One little thing I noticed, though, on the DECODING poster, there's a misspelled word in the bottom left corner "piece" needs to be corrected, but I realize it's not your poster- maybe you should point it out though. :) Thanks again for your cool stuff.
