I really needed to get emergency sub plans together. I generally know when I'm going to be out and have everything meticulously laid out for my sub. However, last month I ended up with an expected stomach virus, hubby was out of town, and I drove myself to school at 6 a.m. to get plans together for the sub...in my PJ's. OY.
This was a necessary evil...I had to have emergency plans in place! However, I didn't want plans that I had to prep every month, or plans that used a ton of color ink and required tons of laminating, or plans that were too hard for a sub to follow. So, I came up with the idea of a B,M,E Sub Tub...a sub tub you prep once (before school) but that has lessons suitable for the Beginning (August-October), Middle (November- February) and End (March-June) of the year...all in one place! Hence, the creation of my sub tub! There are 4 books about dogs that most of us have that should be included in the tub (Martha Speaks, Why a Dog? By A. Cat, Dog Breath, and Bad Dog, Marley!). I've also suggested a few other dog books you may want to include. (The Theme of the tub is dogs!). None of the student pages/activities require color ink or laminating! :)
Then, I've laid out the lesson plans very clearly so that any sub could follow them. Here are a few pics and a little bit better explanation of the tub:
I went ahead and listed this but will be going back and adding the CCSS alignment to the packet in the next few days. I will also be working on similar tubs for K and 2 also. I know I am resting easier if an unexpected illness or absence arises...and I hope this will help you feel prepared and not have the need to rush to school...in the dark...in your PJ's. *wink*

Wow! I love this sub tub because it will be great in an emergency. Definitely will have to go check it. I am now your newest follower. Love your blog by the way it is so cute!

Your sub tub looks amazing! I've been there before too. I drove up to my school at 3 a.m. to make sub plans because I was up anyways. Love it. I just added it to my wish list.

Oh my gosh!! This is amazing! I have generic activities in my sub tub that are way to easy after December. Love this idea! It's on my wishlist until I get my budget money. Hope you feel better ASAP! Being sick is no fun and planning for a sub is the worst :o(
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I love how it's organized! Thanks for posting and hoping you're feeling so much better!
