Today
was a fun Thanksgiving celebration at school!
We are out all next week.
We
started the morning off with my “5 Little Kernels of Corn” poem (which you can
get for free HERE). The kids each took 5
kernels of corn and placed them in a small baggy. Then they shared five things they were
thankful for. Their responses were so
sweet. Afterward, I stapled their bag of
corn to the poem and let them color it and write out the five things they were
thankful for.
Yesterday,
we made these cute turkeys:
The
body and face were inspired by Jennifer at First Grade Blue Skies. Then, I let them watercolor their turkey’s
feathers. They turned out super
cute!
I took their picture holding their
turkey and put a picture of each child in a dollar store picture frame. I attached a leaf that said
Dear
{mom and dad},
Thank
you for sharing your little turkey with me!
We
had a great party at the end of the day led by one of the grandmothers. The kids made turkeys out of oreos and candy
corn. They made Thanksgiving bracelets
from Oriental Trading. They also made pinterest-inspired Pilgrim hats out of black cups. They got a baggie
of Blessings Mix and then ran off all that sugar on the playground. It was a great day!
I will leave you with a picture of my favorite turkey of all...my five year old daughter, Morgan, from her Thanksgiving program last night. I fell in love with this chevron turkey dress from Southern Tots! :)
I
am thankful to be able to teach in a wonderful Christian school and to have
such precious kiddos entrusted to me.
Y’all
have a blessed Thanksgiving!! Be sure to enter my giveaway for my new Christmas Literature unit before Monday. I will be giving away a copy!
Those oreo turkeys look yummy!
