Classroom Wish Tree

I worked in my classroom all.day.long.today.  I mean alllllll day.  I wanted to share pictures of my classroom wish tree.  Some of you do a wish list or a wish bulletin board (as I have done in the past).  I decided to use my almost-four-year-old daughter's cute pink Christmas tree to make a wish tree full of sweets.  I used some of Scrappin' Doodles adorable cupcake clip art.  I added the wish tree "kit" to my TPT sight in case anyone is interested in making one for your classroom.

More 6+1 Traits...and giveaway coming up!

I've been diligently working the last few days to organize my 6+1 traits outline.  This will be my basic outline for  the first semester.  I used three different resource books (which are listed at the top of the document).  I went ahead and purchased all of the mentor texts I have listed here because we have such a small public library, and our school library is even smaller (and organized by AR level...and NOT Dewey Decimal), so it's hard to find stuff.  Easier just to purchase stuff!  I am planning to put together my own version of "The Trait Crate".  I will share pictures and other documents as I finish them.  For now, I hope someone can use this document.   I prefer Google Docs, but I am having trouble uploading stuff to it, so I used Scribd this time.

I go back to school August 1st!!  The kiddos come August 3rd.  I am trying to work on my writing resources right now.  I spent $250 on mentor texts yesterday....every penny of my birthday money and then some (the ones mentioned in No More "I'm Done!") . I am also working on compiling my sequence of writing mini lessons for the year.  They come from NMID and from the 6+1 Traits Primary Guide.  I am going to share them in a few days as soon as I get them all organized.  I don't know if anyone can use them, but I figured I would share them just in case!  I'm having trouble with Google Docs, so I added these FREEBIES to TPT.  Please follow my store and check out my other goodies while you're there.  I have a giveaway coming up at 100 followers....just 7 more to go!! :-)

New Author Study (Marc Brown) on TPT

Are you a Fry Guy?



Are you a Fry Guy?  I think we all know how amazing Fry Phrases are for teaching sight words and fluency/phrasing.  I've just added a new resource to my TPT store.  I've included fry phrase cards for the first 100 words, the second 100 words, the third 100 words, the fourth 100 words, the fifth 100 words, and the sixth 100 words.  I've color-coded the phrase cards so you can easily keep them straight.  I suggest copying them on yellow paper (like french fries) and placing them in super-sized french fry pouches from a fast food restaurant.  You can also clip them on rings for students to practice.  I've also included a one-page list of each set of phrases (6 of these in all) for students to practice and certificates for students to be named a "Fry Guy" as they master each list.  Students can progress through each list at their own pace.  The packet can be purchased for $5 (here), and it's 76 pages!
